Dr. Harold Davis

 

Associate Minister at Canaan Baptist Church of Urbana, Illinois and Executive Director of the TALKS Mentoring Movement, Rev. Dr. Harold D. Davis brings to his role of author a variety of life experiences: minister, schoolteacher, professional musician, businessman, entrepreneur, husband and father.

 

A native of Charleston, West Virginia, Reverend Davis accepted his call to the gospel ministry in 1984 and two years later became the Assistant Pastor and Pastor of Youth Ministries of Canaan Baptist Church in Urbana where he served until 1998. Rev. Davis holds the Master of Ministry and Doctor of Ministry degrees with honors from Bethany Theological Seminary.

Active as a counselor-teacher, for nine years Reverend Davis has directed a class for college students which deals with relationships and other life-skills. He has served as the president of the Board of Directors for the SAFE House (Substance Abuse Free Environment) and currently serves on the boards of Youth for Christ and Boy Scouts of America. Reverend Davis has authored several books, including Never Alone (Dating from the Biblical Perspective) and the Talksmentoring curriculum series. He has served on the faculty for the Moody Bible College's Pastor's Conference and has been heard on "Focus on the Family," with James Dobson, "Family Life Today," with Dennis Rainey and "Money Matters" with Larry Burkett.

 

As of January 1998, Reverend Davis has devoted full time to the effort of assisting adults reach youth in their churches and communities through mentoring programs using his curriculum, Talks My Father Never Had With Me. In demand as a facilitator, preacher and conference speaker, Reverend Davis conducts retreats and seminars for men, youth and singles, and, along with his wife, Dr. Ollie Watts Davis, for married couples.

The Davises are the parents of four children.
